Dear Jaguar Families,

Welcome to the heart of Santa Fe’s Southside and the home of the Jaguars!   I am excited and honored to be the new principal of Capital High School.   This will be my sixth year at Capital High School, and it is my hope that this will be as special a place to you as it has become to me.  I promise to serve our students, staff, parents, and community as we continue to follow our mission of empowering students through a challenging, relevant, and supportive learning environment, promoting lifelong success and achievement.  With the changes in leadership at Capital, I want to pledge to you that we will continue building on our many past achievements, while at the same time, work on setting and reaching new goals to take our school to the next level of GREATNESS!

At Capital High, we are we are dedicated to a student-centered, rigorous curriculum that promotes academic excellence by following the Jaguar Guarantee: our standards of practice to ensure students are prepared for their future endeavors in college and career.   We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all students while providing supportive systems to help students meet these goals.  As an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Demonstration School, we offer best practices in all content areas, supporting students to engage in rigorous writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.  Every student has the opportunity to enroll in Advanced Placement and Honors courses, dual credit classes, and to join one of our four career pathways: Digital Design, Film Production, Business Management, or the Medical Sciences Pathway.   Capital High also offers a robust bilingual program, giving students the opportunity to earn the state’s Bilingual Seal.  Our goal is for all students to become critical thinkers, active problem-solvers, and confident, inquisitive readers and writers.  We do all of this to prepare students for the demands of the real world so they may become fulfilled individuals, productive citizens, future leaders, and contribute positively to the greater community.

Outside the classroom, students have numerous outlets for their own individual passions, skills, and talents. Capital High School offers extracurricular activities in the following programs:  Orchestra, Marching and Concert Band, Choir, Drama, HOSA, DECA, Model Legislature, Interact Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, Culture Club, and many others.  We also offer athletic programming to include: Cheer, Golf, Dance, Track and Field, Swimming, Wrestling, Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Tennis.   Whether your student joins an athletic, artistic, or academic program, we encourage every student to get involved within the Jaguar community, because that involvement will engage them more fully and will enhance your student’s overall achievements.

As your student’s new principal, I am committed to supporting all students so that they may reach their fullest academic potential on their path to graduation.   I look forward to working with you, your student, and members of the community to provide the high-quality education that all students deserve.   I encourage you to become a member of our Jaguar Parent Den, where together we can continue to make Capital High School shine!  Please call, email, or schedule a time to meet with me anytime, as we work together with your student towards a successful high school experience.

I must also recognize the incredibly talented, dedicated, and caring staff of Capital High School.  None of our past accomplishment or future endeavor could be accomplished without the teachers, counselors, secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodial staff, cafeteria workers, and every other individual who supports the day-to-day functioning of our campus.   I can honestly say we have the best staff here at Capital High School!  On behalf of the entire staff, I want to again welcome you and thank you for being a part of the Jaguar Community where we succeed, believe, and achieve, every day, no excuses.   We are truly on the path to GREATNESS!

I look forward to seeing you at our Open House on September 13th at 5:30 p.m.
