Congratulations to all of the Capital High School students who participated in the 33rd Annual Supercomputing Challenge!
Team 9 (Zachariah Burch, Isel Aragon, Britny Marquez, Daniel Leon, sponsored by Barbara Teterycz and Mentor David Ritter) was named one of nine finalists! Team 9 also took home the Community Impact Award for their robotic fire and fire weathering measuring system named Smokey (seen below)!
Team 8 (Julia Almeida, Leslie Gutierrez, Guadalupe Rojo, LaTrisha Padilla, sponsored by Irina Cislaru and Mentor Jon Brown) won the New Mexico Technology in Education (NMTIE) Teamwork Award for their project, Analyzing the Impact of COVID and its Correlation with Vaccines!
Barbara Teterycz also took home a Teacher Appreciation Award, and 3 CHS students (Isel Arragon, Zachariah Burch and Daniel Leon) also received scholarships!

Youth Leaders from North East New Mexico are having a "By Youth, For Youth" Summit at West Las Vegas High School! This will be a student run discussion about what matters to the Youth of New Mexico and will feature special guest Senator Ben Ray Lujan! SFPS and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival will be holding events for recitals and performance concerts featuring some of SFPS' Bands, Orchestras, Choirs, and other instruments this Spring! It's the 151st Anniversary of Arbor Day, and SFPS students will be at Genoveva Chavez Community Center Park on Friday, April 28th, 2023 from 11AM - 1PM to help plant trees and honor this day that helps the environment, community, and beauty of Santa Fe! The SFPS 2nd Annual Golf Tournament was a tremendous and fun success! We want to thank our sponsors, volunteers, organizers, golf pro, special guests and players for such a wonderful day! With a long ball/trick shot golf pro, food, raffles, prizes and amazing weather, it was the perfect day for golfing! We will be sending out more special messages on social media to our sponsors who made this Tournament possible! Last week, LANL brought their traveling STEM experience, called Challenge Tomorrow, to Capital High School to showcase some of the Los Alamos National Laboratory's diverse research, innovations and people to communities in New Mexico!
Students got a chance to learn about some of the many things that they do at LANL! They got their hands dirty learning about irrigation, got to build a block tower with a robot arm and so much more!
Thank you to Carolina Tavarez, the site coordinator for College and Career Plaza at Capital, for setting up this amazing experience for students!
SFPS' Work Based Learning had it's Summer Internship Interviews with some of the best companies and industries in Santa Fe! This incredible program allows for students to intern, get paid, get school credit, and get real world experience in the workplace! We are so proud of this program as it expands and becomes more successful since it's inception!
Aspen Elementary Magnet School held their STEM Innovation Expo on March 30th, 2023 to an excited and engaged group from across the District! With air filters that could identify numerous chemicals to your phone, to computer escape rooms, 3D printed accessories plus easy to learn media editing programs! Congratulations to the students, volunteers, and teachers who made this year's Expo a success!
